Finding the positive

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

I have always been a very physically active person, I have always liked playing sports, not only for physical health but also for mental health. Each person has their ways of letting off steam and expressing what they feel. Mine is exercise and sports. Since my mind simply goes blank, I forget everything that is happening around me, but that’s not to say that I run away from problems.

Let's take an example: jogging. When you feel the air on your face, your heart rate increased, the music in your ears, or the song of the birds in the morning while you are tired and feel that you can no longer continue running, makes you realize that things are more complex than you think, if you learn to enjoy everything in a better way you will be at peace with yourself. You experience other sensations, like when you drink water after you have come to your house when you finish running, have a glass of water and drink it, very thirsty.

You choose what you see of life, decide to see it on the good side, and enjoy all things in this life. Maybe another person, instead of stopping and listening to the birds, maybe what they are going to hear is their problems surrounding their head. I am not saying that you don't have problems. You can not control that, but you simply cannot invest so much time in them because it will harm you. You must learn to distract your mind, to give your subconscious time to relax and then, with more freshness, to be able to think more sanely about things.

Since the whole quarantine started, I knew it was not going to be easy, so I started preparing my mind to stay neutral while everything was happening. A human being is a being of customs. We adapt to things, but we have to be willing to do it. In these times I have always tried to keep myself entertained, keeping my mind busy doing something, exercising, reading or just talking to people I love. It is hard enough for the body to accept all these changes, so you must help it to not make the change so drastic.

Where I'm going with this is if your body is already used to going out, and you stop doing it, your body will take time to get used to not doing it. Simply by exercising you can help your body to maintain itself active. And if your body is already going through many physical changes that are difficult, perhaps you should not allow the psychological changes to affect you because you would be destabilized. You would no longer be emotionally stable. It's about looking for things to do, stay active, and do the things you like at home. You can make calls with your friends or with your family.

All this will make you feel better. Life is about seeing the good side, making the most of it. You should always see things on the good side, be positive and see your life in a pleasant way. All this time I have been focused on what I like and it makes me feel good, communicating with my loved ones, until I started talking to childhood friends who made me remember moments that will be in my head for life. I have tried to focus on my studies since there is a lot of free time. I have tried different styles of music. I have always tried to change the routine, so that life is not boring.

It is your decision and nobody else's if you decide to change your way of thinking for a positive one. You can start to see the good side of things, a side so beautiful that only in these moments you can have the members of the house all together. They can play, they can perhaps make up for the lost time they had. They can have dinner all together, while laughing, remembering the experiences they have had. You just need to learn to smile at the anger and laugh at the sad.
